It also has the added benefit of holding that whippy barrel in place some to increase accuracy.The new 58x series Mini-14s run 100% reliably with a .045" gas bushing with all but the cheapest under powered commie ammo. However, the older 18x and 19x series seem to need a slightly larger aperture gas bushing to run 100%. It worked perfect ... just as advertised. Unfortunately, I sold the gun so now someone else is enjoying my $100 investment. Besides controlling how far the spent cases are flung, the tunable gas block has some other great features.I'm guessing that the ship has sailed on any reasonably priced LE trade mini 14s, especially in stainless.
