On vacation for the week up in NH, and upon getting in my Malibu today to run to the store, I noticed a message on my screen reading "SERVICE ESC" along with my Traction Control dash light fully illuminated (not flashing) for the entire duration of my drive. I called OnStar, and they ran a diagnostic ...The Chevy Malibu utilizes a crankshaft position sensor (CKP) in order to regulate the engine timing. This sensor uses a reluctor to gauge the position of the crank. When the Malibu's ECM determines that the signal coming from this sensor is out of range, it'll throw the P0336 trouble code. P0336 is most commonly caused by a bad crank sensor, reluctor ring issue, or wiring problems. I had a "Engine is hot A/C is off" readin 1. On scan tool, torque sensors 1 and 2 should be in the 0.25 to 4.75 volt range. 2. If either are out of range, disconnect the wires and jump the 5 volt Red wire to the Purple wire, the scanner should read torque sensor 2 at 5 volts, if so jump the Purple wire to the Black wire and torque sensor 2 should read 0 volts. 3.bennkoff Discussion starter. 2 posts · Joined 2016. #4 · Mar 17, 2016. Thanks Drunken for verifying the location. I picked up a new sensor from Autozone and the electrical connector does not match. The car is 2008 Malibu LS with 3.6L VVT engine. I returned the sensor and got a refund because he could not find anything different. The Service ESC light turns on whenever it notices stability...
