I pulled the codes and showed the P0420 (Failed Converter code) & a P0139 (Bank 1 sensor 2 which is front bank after converter O2 sensor code) in tandem. After speaking with an ex Honda tech he stated to start by replacing the O2 sensor.I have 2009 Honda Pilot EX-L. Whenever I fill up the tank, the code P0420 shows up. When fuel tank is bellow half, the code disappears. I have been able to duplicate this scenario multiple time. And no, it is not the fuel cap. The first sensor that I have read that needs to be replaced is the bank 1 downstream (after cat). Then the next is the upstream, but it isn't an 02 sensor but rather and A/F sensor I believe. The first sensor that I have read that needs to be replaced is the bank 1 downstream (after cat). Then the next is the upstream, but it isn't an 02 sensor but rather and A/F sensor I believe.
